形態特徵

• Medium-sized trees; bark grayish-brown, to 1.3 cm thick; young branchlets terete, with short soft hairs, branchlets of first year somewhat 4-angular, yellowish-brown and grayish-yellow tomentose; buds 3 mm long, scales broadly ovate, acuminate at apex, grayish-yellow tomentose.
• Leaves subopposite, coriaceous, oblong to lanceolate, 8-16 cm long, 4-5.5 cm wide, cuneate at base, green and lustrous, glabrous above, pale dull green, glabrous beneath on seedlings, sparsely yellowish tomentose beneath on adults, the 3 main veins concave above, prominent beneath; petioles 1.2-2 cm long, yellowish tomentose.
• Inflorescences cymose-panicles, axillary or terminal, 8-16 cm long; peduncles about 1/2 length of Inflorescence, yellowish tomentose; flowers white, 4.5 mm long; pedicels 3-6 mm, yellowish-brown tomentose; tepals 6, ovate-oblong, 2.5 mm long, 1.5 mm wide, densely yellowish-brown tomentose on both sides, acutish-obtuse at apex; fertile stamens 9, filaments with soft hairs, 1st and 2nd whorles of stamens 2.3 mm long, filaments flat, 1.4 mm long, anthers ovate, 0.9 mm, 4-celled, introrse, 3rd whorl of stamens 2.7 mm long, filaments flattened, 1.9 mm long, reniform glands in pairs, anthers ovate, 4-celled, extrorse; staminodia 3, 2 mm long, anthers sagittate at apex; ovary ovate-globose, 1.7 mm long, glabrous, style filiform, stigma small.
• Fruit 1 cm long, 7-8 mm across, blackish-violet at maturity, glabrous.

物候

flowering June to August.; Fruiting October to December.

• 世界 : Mainland China. Cultivated in China, India, Indochina, Indonesia.
